Gluten-Free Chocolate Chip Cookies: Gluten-Free Doesn’t Mean Flavor-Free!

People adopt a gluten-free diet for many reasons. Concerns surrounding celiac disease, weight gain, wheat allergies and gluten sensitivity lead the way.  In fact, the percentage of consumers avoiding gluten more than tripled between 2009 and 2014*.

Those who’ve adopted a gluten-free diet are well aware that gluten-free food can taste quite different. This is because gluten is a spongy complex of proteins found in wheat that allows dough to rise, which gives breads and cakes their texture. It’s used to make pizza dough stretchy, it gives bread a spongy texture, and it’s used to thicken soups and sauces. As a result, foods without gluten can have a different texture and taste.

But does gluten-free have to mean flavor-free?  To Fred and Ricky’s, absolutely not.

For example, we’ve made a gluten-free, oil-free cookie that rivals any “normal baked” good. After your first bite into our chocolate chip cookie, you’ll never utter the words, “This tastes good…for being gluten-free.glutenfree chocchip cookie

Cooking and baking gluten-free food is an art. It takes a lot of trial and error when creating a recipe; getting the right blend of flours, the right proportion of liquids, and the right leaveners and binders. Fred and Ricky’s is committed to perfecting the gluten-free chocolate chip cookie, and we believe we’ve done just that.

Our homemade gluten-free baked goods taste better than anything made in a factory or mass-produced. Crafted in small batches at our local kitchen, not only do our gluten-free baked goods taste great, they are healthier since they have less preservatives and additives.

The holidays are right around the corner. Stop by and try our new Gluten-Free Chocolate Chip Cookie and pick up some other gluten-free baked goods to bring to your next holiday get-together. If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, please contact us.
